Three Temecula Schools Briefly Locked Down Due to Nearby Police Activity
Three local schools were placed on lockdown, at the request of area law enforcement, Patch has learned.

Three Temecula Valley Unified School District campuses were temporarily locked down on Monday, school officials confirm.

Temecula Elementary School, Margarita Middle School and Temecula Valley High School were all placed on lockdown around 10:30 a.m., district officials tell Patch.
According to Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Armando Munoz, the lockdowns were ordered after police responded to an assault call at an apartment complex in the 30000 block of Rancho California Road.

“At no point at all were the schools in danger, it was just due to their proximity to the location [that we] placed them on lockdown,” he told Patch by telephone.
The lockdown was lifted around 11:30 a.m. he said.
Specific details about the assault are not yet available, but as of 12:40 p.m., the incident was continuing.
“Investigators and deputies are on scene now,” he said.
