Trump Support Rally Planned in Temecula This Weekend

"Riverside for Trump" is organizing the two-hour outing in Temecula. It's planned for Saturday at 11 a.m.

TEMECULA, CA - Donald Trump supporters will rally Saturday in Temecula, where a number of speakers are expected to laud the Republican frontrunner's campaign, potentially in the face of protests, though sheriff's officials don't anticipate trouble.

"Riverside for Trump" is organizing the two-hour outing at Duck Pond Park on Ynez Road. The rally is slated to get underway at 11 a.m. and draw several hundred people.

According to organization founder Glenn Turner, speakers will include Canyon Lake Mayor Tim Brown, constitutional attorney and one-time California attorney general candidate Orly Taitz, Remembrance Project Director Maria Espinoza and broadcaster Ernie White, all of whom will address key issues and the importance of get-out-the-vote drives.

Trump is not expected to attend.

"The majority of conservatives and Republicans in California support Donald Trump for president because he will put America first, and he's not beholden to any special interest groups," Turner said.

Recent polls have shown Trump with double-digit leads in California over GOP rivals Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich. On Tuesday, he secured another crucial win, prompting Cruz to end his bid.

Espinoza will address illegal immigrant crime during her appearance Saturday. Trump's proposed immigration control measures have been hot-button topics and the impetus for raucous -- sometimes violent -- counter demonstrations, most recently during a campaign rally in Costa Mesa, where 17 people were arrested Thursday night.

Two days earlier, during a confrontation outside Anaheim City Hall, an anti-Trump protester pepper-sprayed two young girls.

A Riverside County sheriff's spokesman, Deputy Mike Vasquez, told City News Service that deputies will be in place for Saturday's rally "to ensure all the attendees are allowed their right to support whoever they choose."

During a similar event on March 26, some words were exchanged between opposing sides, but no arrests were made.

"(We) saw citizens express their views peacefully," Vasquez said. "We anticipate the same for this weekend."
