Yxstian Gutierrez Declares Victory Over Pass Area Supervisor Hewitt
Ballot counting continues in Riverside County, but updated General Election 2022 results show Gutierrez leading Hewitt.
SAN GORGONIO PASS AREA, CA — Moreno Valley Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez declared victory in the race to decide who will represent the Pass Area on the Riverside County Board of Supervisors.
While ballot counting continues, Gutierrez is leading Fifth District Supervisor Jeff Hewitt by 7,098 votes — 54.34% to 45.66% — according to the latest vote count posted Wednesday night by the Riverside County Registrar of Voters.
Approximately 17,000 vote-by-mail and 10,000 provisional ballots still must be processed, the Registrar reported.

"I’m humbled by the support I received from voters across the Fifth District, and I’m looking forward to bringing people together and finding common ground in order to get things done. I can’t wait to get to work," Gutierrez said in a news release.
A former Calimesa mayor, Hewitt was elected to the Riverside County Board of Supervisors in 2018 and has served one term. The Fifth District includes Banning, Beaumont, Cabazon, Calimesa, Cherry Valley, Hemet, Lakeview, Moreno Valley, Nuevo, San Jacinto and part of Valle Vista.
