Finding Magic Between the Lines as Raise the Barre Returns to Chance Theater now through June 13th.

There is a unique bond between performers who have spent countless hours making art together and that magical quality is exactly what audiences now that Raise the Barre has raised the curtain on its production of Between the Lines, at the Chance Theater in Anaheim.

Raise the Barre proudly returns to Chance as a visiting company, following its well-received production of Something Rotten on the same stage in August 2025.

Raise the Barre began in 2010 in Lake Forest as a home studio offering performing arts education to homeschoolers — a place where students trained in dance, theater, voice, music, puppetry, and technical theater in an environment defined by genuine encouragement and creative freedom. Many of those original students, now adults, have come together for this production after high school and college productions elsewhere. Today, more than 88% of the artists creating Between the Lines were homeschoolers themselves, and the bonds forged in those early years fosters a supportive and creative environment that carries through every aspect of this show.

That foundation of trust and inclusion shapes the company’s approach to every production. Raise the Barre is an LGBTQ+ affirming organization that welcomes performers at every level — those preparing for professional careers, those returning to the stage after years away, and those who simply love live performance. Every voice belongs here.

Between the Lines, based on the bestselling novel by Jodi Picoult and Samantha van Leer, follows teenager Delilah as she navigates a new school and family drama while finding an unexpected connection in the pages of a fairy tale. With music and lyrics by Elyssa Samsel and Kate Anderson and a book by Timothy Allen McDonald and Jodi Picoult, the show carries an inspiring message: “Live the story you want, if it’s not the story you’re in.”

Performances run through June 13 at Chance Theater — Anaheim’s official resident theater company and one of Southern California’s most celebrated intimate performance venues — located at 5522 E. La Palma Ave. Tickets are $40 general admission, with student discounts available using code RTBEDU and a pay-what-you-can Homeschool Matinee on June 6 in honor of the community that started it all.
