2. 25 Years Later: Lessons Learned from the Martis Fire (tahoedailytribune.com) — Twenty-five years after the Martis Fire scorched 14,000 acres near Truckee, local fire officials are warning residents that 2026’s unusual weather has created similarly dangerous fuel conditions. 3. Lake Tahoe Traffic Was a Nightmare. Palisades Tahoe's Parking Reservation Program Is Changing That (snowbrains.com) — Truckee drivers are seeing fewer gridlock days on routes to Tahoe City thanks to Palisades Tahoe’s parking reservation program, which has removed over 107,000 cars from area roads in three seasons. Backed by the Town of Truckee and regional transit partners, the system boosts shuttles and carpooling while cutting emissions and smoothing weekend and holiday travel.

4. New Destination Stewardship efforts aim to enhance the Tahoe experience for everyone (tahoedailytribune.com) — If you’re planning to float or gather along the Truckee River for America’s 250th, expect alcohol restrictions and a heavier law-enforcement presence over the July 4 weekend. Tahoe destination managers are also urging visitors and locals to use shuttles and trails, pack out trash, follow fire rules, and check beach and road conditions before heading out.
