The Chamber also celebrated expanding to 569 members, growing youth and jobs programs, and supporting projects like KidZone Museum’s new home at Truckee River Regional Park.

Truckee Fire urges residents to reserve curbside green waste pickup by Oct. 11 (sierrasun.com) — Truckee Fire is urging residents to reserve their free curbside green waste pickup by Oct. 11, helping clear branches and brush before peak fall fire danger. Measure T funds also support defensible-space inspections, home-hardening rebates, dead tree removal assistance, and free reflective address signs, all aimed at boosting wildfire preparedness for Truckee homeowners.
   

3. Community Unites to Protect Truckee's Land, Water and Wild Spaces (placersentinel.com) — A recent Tahoe Modern fundraiser in Truckee brought in over $13,500 to support the Truckee River Watershed Council and Truckee Donner Land Trust’s work restoring local meadows, canyons, and trails. Longtime partners, the two nonprofits are collaborating on projects from Perazzo Meadows to Donner Lake, ensuring nearby open spaces stay healthy and accessible for residents and visitors.

Reno Gazette Journal Wins First Place for Castle Peak Avalanche Coverage at Nevada Press Foundation Awards (news-usa.today) — A deadly February avalanche just northwest of Truckee near the Nevada border has earned the Reno Gazette Journal a first-place breaking news award from the Nevada Press Foundation. Reporters were recognized for detailed coverage of the search, rescue, and recovery efforts, while the paper also collected multiple other honors, underscoring strong regional reporting on disasters and major events affecting Truckee-area residents.
