Accused Husband Killer Told Dispatcher He 'Treated Me Poorly'
The 56-year-old Union City woman was arrested Sunday for the fatal shooting of her husband, who was shot 18 times, police said.

UNION CITY, CA – A Union City woman who is charged with murder for the fatal shooting of her husband at their home on Sunday night told a police dispatcher that she shot him because he treated her badly and she couldn't take it anymore, according to court documents.
Sara Chereji, 56, also told the dispatcher that she used her own firearm to shoot her husband, Sorin Chereji, 18 times at their home in the 4300 block of Feldspar Court at about 10:15 p.m. Sunday, according to a
probable cause statement by Union City police Officer Jon Persinger.
Sara Chereji was arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court in Dublin on Tuesday and was scheduled to return to court today to be assigned an attorney and possibly enter a plea.

Persinger wrote that Chereji told the dispatcher that her husband "has been treating her poorly all week" and that when they stayed at an out-of-town hotel while attending a wedding, he pushed her, kicked her and
threw her against the wall.
In her phone call to the dispatcher, Chereji said her husband was in an upstairs bedroom and she was waiting downstairs for police to arrive, according to Persinger.

Officers who came to the house found Sorin Chereji lying face down on a bed in an upstairs bedroom, Persinger wrote.
Chereji appeared to have been shot multiple times and was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at 10:29 p.m. Sunday, Persinger wrote.
Officers who searched the bedroom where Sorin Chereji was found spotted two firearms in plain view: a silver revolver and a semi-automatic handgun, according to Persinger.
Sara Chereji has two firearms registered to her: a Smith and Wesson .45-caliber revolver and a Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-automatic handgun, Persinger wrote.
Sorin Chereji's sister, who was inside the house at the time of the shooting but wasn't injured, told police that she heard numerous gunshots and asked Sara Chereji what happened but Chereji didn't respond, Persinger
wrote.
She also told police that she was aware of prior incidents of domestic violence between her brother and Sara Chereji, according to Persinger. Although Chereji provided details of the incident when she called the dispatcher, she declined to speak to investigators when they tried to interview her, Persinger wrote.
In addition to murder, Sara Chereji is charged with an enhancement that alleges that she caused her husband's death by intentionally discharging a firearm.
