4 Cats Killed In Union City House Fire (Video)

A pet snake also perished. No people were home when the fire broke out.

UNION CITY, CA — A Union City home was heavily damaged by fire Monday afternoon. There were no injuries. However, four cats and one snake died in the fire.

Firefighters received the call at 4:04 p.m. They were met with flames shooting out the side of the home and heavy smoke pouring out of the back The flames were out within 20 minutes of arriving.

The home, in the 31300 block of Santa Fe Way, is used as a home school. No one was home when the fire broke out.

The Red Cross is assisting two adults and two boys, ages 12 and 9, who were displaced by the fire.

Paramedics Plus, the Union City Police Department and PG&E also responded to support the incident.

A Fire Investigator labeled the cause of the fire as accidental.
