UNION CITY, CA — The Union City Police Department continues its annual participation in October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month with officers wearing the patches on their uniforms and by selling "UCPD Commemorative Pink Patches."

"October is a special month in which UCPD brings special awareness for the need to continue the research, education and treatment for breast cancer," the agency said. "Wearing the Pink Patch on our uniforms is a great conversation starter and shows our community that we support this worthy cause."

Proceeds from patch sales go to breast cancer organizations, the department said.
