Chainsaw Clown's Strange CHP Chase Ends Shockingly

In a town famous for bizarre police chases, this one stands out.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Just when you thought you’d seen it all when it comes to LA’s infamous car chases, a clown with a chainsaw led the CHP on a chase from Orange County to Venice, where he frolicked with beachgoers until officers tased him.

The man in the green-haired clown mask turned out to be Damik A. Disdier, a Santa Ana resident now awaiting arraignment on charges of evading police.

The chase began just before 3 p.m. Saturday in Westminster where witnesses reported a BMW sedan driving at 2 to 3 miles per hour along the busiest stretch of freeway in the world — the fast lane of the San Diego (405) Freeway at the Orange County/Los Angeles County border, according to the California Highway Patrol.

When officers caught up with the driver, he allegedly took off at 70 miles per hour.

"During this time, the driver climbed onto the roof of the BMW and began gesturing at CHP units before sitting back inside the vehicle," according to the CHP.

The driver exited the freeway and took surface streets to Venice Beach. Onlookers lined the streets to watch the bizarre procession of chainsaw clown and police cars.

Eventually, the car stopped, and the man in the clown mask took off on foot, attempting to lose officers through a maze of tennis courts. However, camera crews in helicopters remained trained on him as he headed to the beach. Still clad in a leather jacket and the green-haired clown mask, he stopped to give high-fives to beachgoers and helped bury a teen in the sand. But at the water’s edge, he ran out of room to run. Officers surrounded him, and as the beach crowd watched, they tased him to the ground and cuffed him.

"Just another day in California... Venice Beach man." Beachgoer Rob Hernandez told Fox11. "I was kind of like thinking if this was a show going on or if this was reality once the cops showed up, it was no joke."

The chainsaw turned out to be a toy prop, and a passenger in the car was detained for questioning, KTLA reported.
