DUI, Driver's License Checkpoint Planned For Westside

A DUI, driver's license checkpoint is planned for LAPD's Pacific Division Monday.

VENICE, CA — A DUI, driver's license checkpoint is scheduled for Monday night in LAPD's Pacific Division, the department announced Friday.

The exact checkpoint location was not released, but it will be somewhere in the Del Rey, Venice, Mar Vista, Palms or, Westchester region from 6 p.m. Monday to 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Police will conduct traffic stops at several locations across Los Angeles for the upcoming weekend and next week.

"Sobriety Checkpoints are placed in locations based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests," LAPD said in a news release. "Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment and checking drivers for proper licensing."

Funding for the checkpoints and saturation patrol is provided to the LAPD by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
