Firefighters Tackle Venice House Fire

Los Angeles firefighters were able to quickly contain a blaze and make sure the elderly residents made it out safely.

VENICE, CA -- Firefighters made quick work of a single-story house fire in Venice.

The blaze in the 1300 block of Preston Way near Penmar Avenue broke out at about 3:40 p.m. Thursday. About 30 firefighters managed to out out the blaze within 15 minutes, according Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

"Firefighters performed a rapid search and ensured the elderly residents were out and are safe," he said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. An exact dollar figure of the loss is yet to be determined.
