Suspected Out-Of-State Jail Escapee Crashes Into Uber Car In Venice Following Chase

Television footage of the scene showed one of the vehicles flipped over and the other went into a building.

VENICE, CA -- A suspected out-of-state jail escapee crashed a Chevy Impala into a parked Uber during a short chase in Venice, police said Tuesday.

The two-block chase ended at 1515 Abbot Kinney Blvd. a little after 11 p.m. Monday, when the 28-year-old escapee struck the parked Uber car, which had the driver and passenger inside, said Sgt. E. Gabaldon of the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Division. The suspect was being pursued because he had been speeding, she said.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident and arrested on suspicion of felony evading, Gabaldon said.

The two people in the parked car complained of pain and were treated at the scene, she said.
