Suspicious Bag that Triggered Traffic Chao at LAX Contained Clothes

Bomb-sniffing dogs determined the item was harmless.

It turned out to be a bag of someone’s clothes, but it was left unattended on an airport sidewalk, and that was enough to cause traffic chaos and bring out the bomb-sniffing dogs at LAX today.

The bag triggered suspicions when it was spotted on the upper deck between Terminals 2 and 3. At 7:15 a.m., Los Angeles Airport Police brought its dogs in and set up a perimeter. Departure level traffic snarled, and a ticket counter area was cleared of employees and passengers, said Los Angeles Airport police Sgt. Belinda Nettles.

At approximately 8 a.m., the suspicious item was cleared by the bomb squad and traffic diversions were lifted, Nettles said.
