Woman Critically Injured In Venice House Fire

The Los Angeles Fire Department Arson Squad was called to investigate the early morning house fire.

VENICE, CA — Firefighters pulled a woman in critical condition from a burning home in Venice Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out at about 4:40 a.m., and when crews arrived on the scene in the 900 block of South 4th Avenue, they found smoke billowing from the back of the single-story home. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, hoarding conditions posed challenges for firefighters.

Firefighters made entry into the home and rescued a woman, who was transported to a hospital in critical condition, according to Margaret Stewart with the Los Angeles Fire Department.

It took 29 firefighters 34 minutes to extinguish the flames, she said.

The Los Angeles Fire Department Arson Squad was called to investigate the cause of the fire, said Stewart.
