1. 18-year-old suspect arrested in death of man in Vista (10news.com) — Vista authorities have arrested an 18-year-old local man on suspicion of murder after a man was found fatally injured early Wednesday in the 1400 block of East Vista Way. Deputies and medics could not save the victim, and detectives are still gathering evidence while asking anyone with information to contact the Sheriff's Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers.
   

2. Vista's Inaugural Día de Muertos St Festival a Full Day of Culture, Music and Community to South Santa Fe Avenue (northcountydailystar.com) — Vista residents can look forward to a free Día de Muertos street festival this Sunday, Oct. 11, along South Santa Fe Avenue, centered at 802 S. Santa Fe Ave. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., you'll find local performers, community altars, sugar-skull decorating, lucha libre, car displays, and dozens of small businesses and food vendors celebrating culture and tradition.
   

3. CIF High School San Diego Football Around the County by Dave (thevistapress.com) — High school football fans in Vista will note Rancho Buena Vista's close 21–17 loss to Mira Mesa, highlighted by Van Piercy's 182 passing yards and a touchdown catch. The roundup also recaps strong performances from teams across San Diego County, including Valley Center, Carlsbad, and Tri-City Christian standouts.
   

4. Extreme heat warning continues along San Diego coast this week (fox5sandiego.com) — Vista is under an extreme heat warning this week, with daytime highs potentially reaching the upper 90s to around 100 degrees and very warm nights in the upper 60s to mid-70s. County officials urge residents, especially seniors, kids, outdoor workers, and those without AC, to use Cool Zones, stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and avoid outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat.
