Walnut Creek CA…The farmers of the Diablo Valley Farmers' Market are inviting local families to join them for the market's annual Kids Day on Saturday, July 25, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In addition to all of your favorite local farmers and vendors, the market will feature a full lineup of free activities created especially for children and families.
For the farmers, Kids Day is about much more than entertainment. It's an opportunity to help children build positive memories around healthy food, local farms, and family traditions. By creating a fun day at the market, they hope to inspire the next generation to grow up excited about fresh produce, cooking together, and supporting the local farms that feed their community.
Children of all ages are invited to participate in a hands-on cooking class taught by local chef educator, Laura Kaufman, who will help young participants prepare a delicious, healthy recipe using fresh ingredients from the market. The beloved puppet show featuring marionette puppets from Fairyland in Oakland begins at 10:30 a.m. Families can enjoy story time throughout the day, learn about beneficial insects while creating a buzz worthy craft, get free face painting, and test their skills at the always popular Pumpkin Pitch game!
July is one of the most abundant times of the year at the farmers' market, with colorful displays of vine ripened cherry tomatoes, Brentwood sweet corn, tree ripened peaches and nectarines, freshly baked artisan breads and pies, and much more. The Diablo Valley Farmers’ Market is held every Saturday from 9:00am-1:00pm, year round, rain or shine and is conveniently located with abundant free parking. The market is a Certified Farmers' Market, inspected by the County Agricultural Commissioner, where California farmers sell the fruits, vegetables, and other agricultural products they grow themselves.
