County Issues New Isolation Order As CA Watch List Still Frozen
After 8 straight days of reporting new coronavirus deaths, no new fatalities were reported in Contra Costa County on Wednesday.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY — A new Mass Isolation Order was issued by Contra Costa County’s health department on Wednesday. It details how long each person must self-isolate following a coronavirus diagnosis.
The length of time varies by whether a person is asymptomatic, has symptoms, or is hospitalized for COVID-19 complications.

- Individuals without symptoms must isolate for 10 days from the date of a positive test.
- Individuals with symptoms must isolate until:
- At least 24 hours have passed since recovery, defined as resolution of both fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and improvement of cough, shortness of breath, and other symptoms if present AND
- At least 10 days have passed since their symptoms started.
- Individuals with symptoms and hospitalized in the intensive care unit must isolate until:
- At least 24 hours have passed since recovery, defined as resolution of both fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and improvement of cough, shortness of breath, and other symptoms if present AND
- At least 20 days have passed since their symptoms started.

Meanwhile, a glitch involving the reporting of coronavirus statistics has not been resolved by the state of California, according to Contra Costa health officials, which means that the "Watch List" of counties being monitored because of coronavirus remains frozen — no counties will be moved onto or off the list. Contra Costa is stuck on the list.

When reporting problems are resolved, the state may be pleased to see that Contra Costa County reported no new deaths on Wednesday, after 8 straight days of new deaths.
However, the county did report 144 newly confirmed cases, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 8,324.
The number of hospitalized patients fell to 99, the first time in over a week that it has been under 100. Across the Bay Area, there are currently 678 patients hospitalized with complications from COVID-19.
