East Bay Man with HIV Gets 29 Years For Having Sex With Boys
The victims were met online and were between 13 and 16 years old.

A Concord man convicted of having unprotected sex with boys as young as 13 while he was knowingly HIV-positive was sentenced to 29 years in prison Friday, a prosecutor said.
Anthony Tafoya, 25, pleaded guilty to 11 counts of sex crimes related to four victims and admitted to a special age enhancement, Deputy District Attorney Alison Chandler said. He was also ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution to one victim and $50,000 in restitution to another, Chandler said.
Between 2011 and 2012, Chandler said Tafoya contacted boys aged 13 to 16 through the Internet.

Chandler said it was “unfortunate” how the series of events unfolded for all involved.
“Everybody can now begin to heal and move forward,” she said. Tafoya’s attorney, Christopher Varnell, did not return requests for comment.
