Gunman Steals Opioids From Walnut Creek Walgreens

Police say the robber hopped the counter in the pharmacy and threatened employees with a gun.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — A gunman hopped the counter in the pharmacy of a Walnut Creek Walgreens store Monday night and demanded opioid-based prescription drugs, according to police. He ran out of the store after receiving the drugs. There were no injuries.

The robbery happened at 10:43 p.m. at the Walgreens at 2900 N. Main St., WCPD Sgt. David Rangel said.

A K-9 unit from the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office assisted police in a search for the suspect but did not find him.

He was described as a man in his 20s or 30s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

A Walgreens pharmacy in Danville was robbed of opioid-based drugs in September.

Police will release photos from the Walnut Creek robbery if they become available.
