🌿 Mt. Diablo Village
Founded in 2025, Mt. Diablo Village (MDV) helps Walnut Creek seniors age in place by staying active, connected, and supported. The organization promotes physical and mental wellness, social engagement, lifelong learning, and purpose.
All volunteers undergo background checks to ensure member safety. Opportunities include:
• Home Help Services: Drivers, handymen, gardeners, dog walkers, tech helpers, walking buddies, and more• Program Planning: Organizing or leading classes, clubs, field trips, and social gatherings• Instructors: Yoga, chair yoga, meditation, tai chi, line dancing, cooking, and other specialties• Speakers: Doctors, nurses, legal professionals, gerontologists, civic leaders, and service providers

🚗 Mobility Matters
Mobility Matters offers a deeply personal way to support local seniors and veterans: volunteer driving. The organization connects community members who can no longer drive with caring volunteers who safely transport them to essential appointments.
Volunteer drivers must:• Be 25–75 years old with a current driver’s license• Maintain an excellent driving record and crime-free background• Have a reliable, insured vehicle• Attend a three-hour training session
Volunteers can commit to as little as one ride per month, with each ride typically lasting about three hours.

🎻 California Symphony Alliance
Founded in 1991, the California Symphony Alliance raises funds to support the orchestra and its education program, Sound Minds, while also providing volunteer support for community events.
Volunteer opportunities include:• Distributing Symphony swag and flyers at events• Assisting with the popular instrument “petting zoo”• Assembling practice instruments for students• Coordinating fundraising events

📚 Friends of the Walnut Creek Library
The Friends of the Walnut Creek Library operate a bookstore inside the Walnut Creek Downtown Library. Volunteers are needed once or twice a month for a few hours per shift to help staff the bookstore.
