Walnut Creek Seniors Celebrate Kentucky Derby & Mother's Day
The Byron Park senior-living community was able to invite family to the in-person events after two years of COVID-related Zoom interactions
WALNUT CREEK, CA — At Byron Park, a local senior-living community in Walnut Creek, recent festivities celebrated the 2022 Kentucky Derby, with a fashion show, and Mother's Day.
“For the past couple of years, we’ve had to pivot our Mother’s Day operations to accommodate the pandemic,” said Jennifer Pastora, Byron Park executive director. “Residents had to celebrate with their families from their balconies or remotely via Zoom, so we (were) thrilled to be able to bring families together this year in such a fun way.”
This year the two events fell on the same weekend, which allowed the facility to host a combo, community-wide event honoring motherhood, while simultaneously allowing residents to participate in “the greatest two minutes in sports,” management said.
