Walnut Creek Shooting: Person Critically Hurt

The shooting happened Monday evening at Riviera Avenue and Parkside Drive.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — One person was shot and critically injured in Walnut Creek Monday, just before 6 p.m. No arrests have been announced. The victim is expected to survive.

The shooting happened near the intersection of Riviera Avenue and Parkside Drive.

Police received a 911 call about the shooting but when officers arrived, all they found were shell casings. A short time later they received word that a shooting victim had been dropped off at a hospital.

While investigators have confirmed that the victim was shot at the location where the shell casing were found, police are not releasing any other information about the case. Walnut Creek Police Lt. Tracie Reese said in a press release, "Based on preliminary information, investigators believe this is an isolated incident and do not believe there is an active threat to the community."
