Power Knocked Out For 6,000 Customers In Watsonville
The Watsonville Fire Department said a pole was down and that witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion in the area.

WATSONVILLE, CA β A transformer fire may be to blame for a power outage Friday afternoon that impacted more than 6,000 Watsonville customers.
The outage reported at 3:16 p.m. by PG&E confirmed 5,794 customers were without power. Another 591 customers went dark at 3:14 p.m., according to the utility.
As of 6 p.m., Riverside Drive remained closed in both directions, between Blackburn and Main streets, according to Watsonville police. The agency initially reported a transformer fire had occurred.

Fire crews were on the scene, and PG&E is investigating the incident.
Power was restored to a majority of customers shortly after 4 p.m., and the utility said power should be restored to all by approximately 7:15 p.m.
The cause of the mishap remains under investigation.
