'Act Of Terror': CHP Spends 100s Of Hours On Projectile Case

Forty-eight people driving along Highway 101 near Prunedale have been hit since February, CHP told KSBW.

PRUNEDALE, CA β€” The California Highway Patrol says projectile attacks on drivers along Highway 101 have ramped up, "increasing in frequency and boldness," KSBW reported. Twenty-two of the 48 cases the agency has investigated have occurred since October and CHP has spent hundreds of hours investigating tips and leads that pour in daily.

CHP declined to tell the station what the projectiles are and what methods it was using to catch the projectile-thrower, but said it had created a task force for the investigation.

"It's a sheer act of terror," CHP Commander Kyle Foster told KSBW on Wednesday. "The person responsible is terrorizing our citizens and the California Highway Patrol will not stand for it."
