Army Corps To Commence Levee Work

The work is being conducted at the direction of the Army Corps of Engineers, and will repair levees damaged during the 2017 winter storms.

From The County of Santa Cruz: The County of Santa Cruz and City of Watsonville are pleased to announce the commencement of repair work on the Salsipuedes Creek and Pajaro River levee systems.

The work is being conducted at the direction of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and will repair levees damaged during the 2017 winter storms. The repairs will occur at various locations in an area bordered by Highway 152, Murphy's Crossing and Highway 1. Members of the public should expect to see heavy equipment operating atop levees and transporting materials over area roadways. Public access along levee paths will be impacted intermittently. Signage will be posted at impacted locations. These restrictions are necessary to assure public safety. Measures will also be put in place to minimize dust and to restrict operations to daytime hours. Work on the repairs is expected to begin as soon as June 1, and could potentially last throughout summer.
