Picture the Starlite Drive-In (Literally)
This Corralitos musician is looking for photos of the Starlite Drive-In for a new music project.

This is the type of post that would normally be accompanied by a great photograph. But I don't have one. And that's kind of the point.
They say "write what you know". A good chunk of my songs take place here in South County, or at least somewhere nearby. "I Miss My Town" is a lament about farmland giving way to housing developments. "Highway 17" is a rant about everyone's favorite commute.
A new collection of songs I'm working on has our old Starlite Drive-in as its centerpiece. I'm also thinking it might work as a CD cover or a video montage if I have enough material.

Here's the hitch: I cannot find a photograph of it. The was surprised that they had nothing. A contact at the is looking around for me. In the meantime, I'd thought I'd try a plain and simple request here on the Patch: Does anyone have any photos of the Starlite? I'd love pics of the screen, the marquee, the playground, the snack bar, old cars lined up twoards the screen, or even just shots of people who were there.
History for the under-30 readers: The Starlite was the place to hang out in our formative years (late '70s). You hung a speaker on your car window and watched a movie. Sometimes. The Starlite stood on the very same spot where sits these days. (And if you're too young to remember any of that, there's a reasonable chance you were conceived at the drive-in.)

I'd love to document our old drive-in with a video and song. You can send any pics to me by email at michael@michaelgaither.com. I'd also love to hear from anyone who just has particularly fond memories of the place, too.
