Watsonville Family YMCA will offer fitness assessments, arts and crafts, demo classes and more at the event. Enrollment will be discounted.
WATSONVILLE, CA — Wonder what the Y's all about? Visit Watsonville Family YMCA for free on Jan. 25 during an open house.
Demo fitness classes such as Zumba, spin, Kidfit, Kid Zumba and Bootcamp will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be free fitness assessments to check for mobility and strength, healthy lifestyle information, and arts and crafts throughout the event. Guests may download a free personal training app based on their fitness assessments, said Stephany Soto, Senior Membership and Wellness Director.
Staff will teach guests how to use its equipment, including the "gnarly" weight machines, she said. A sugar display table will teach guests how much sugar is in foods from Hamburger Helper to protein bars.

Unlike other fitness facilities, the YMCA has a strong family focus, she said. Child care is offered and classes are offered for kids as young as 3.
"You can bring you screaming two-year-old and your super cool teenager, and you can have fun here at the Y, too," Soto said.
The event will be hosted at the YMCA Family Center (27 Sudden St.) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be snacks and prizes.
