Grease Dumped In Monterey Bay City

The 55-gallon drums, found in Marina, appear to contain kitchen grease, and the find is under investigation, officials said.

MONTEREY BAY, CA – The Monterey County Health Department is investigating an incident of illegal grease dumping in Marina on Thursday.

A team from the health department's Environmental Health Bureau responded to a report of two 55-gallon drums disposed on Lapis Road.

Upon arrival, the team found that the drums appeared to contain kitchen grease. The contents had spilled onto the ground since the drums did not have lids, according to county health officials.

The health department believes that this may be the fourth disposal of kitchen grease on the road.
