Homeless Services Event to be Held Next Week

Families and individuals may accomplish, in one day under one roof, what could normally take months.

Project Homeless Connect (PHC), a one-day event for health and human services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, is coming to the Veterans Memorial Bldg. in Watsonville– 215 E. Beach St., on November 5th from 10am-4pm.

A coalition of city and county government, community volunteers, non-profit organizations, church groups and businesses are creating one place to access no cost resources to individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

The one-day event will be tailored towards the demographic needs of Watsonville community members, including homeless families. The primary goal of Project Homeless Connect is to help families and individuals accomplish, in one day- under one roof, what could normally take months.

According to the 2013 Santa Cruz County Homeless Census and Survey conducted by the nonprofit Applied Survey Research, there were 3,536 homeless individuals, of which 2,895 were unsheltered.

Individuals and families experiencing homelessness and low-income individuals and families seeking services are encouraged to attend the event on November 5th.

The event has been held in Santa Cruz for the last several years and has had over 700 people in attendance. Homeless Project Connect Watsonville expects to see more families this year.
