Man Shot Dead In Nearby Seaside ID'd

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA – Seaside police have identified a victim of an early Saturday morning shooting.

According to police, 54-year-old Frederick James Pirtle of Seaside was shot and killed in the 1300 block of Sonoma Avenue.

Police received calls of shots fired at 3:51 a.m. and found Pirtle when they arrived at the scene, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives are still working to determine a motive in the shooting and whether it's gang-related. There are no suspects at this time, according to police.
