WATSONVILLE, CA — The 2019-20 school year for the Pajaro Valley Unified School District began Aug. 14, and since that time officers from the Watsonville Police Department's Traffic Division have been heavily patrolling streets around campuses.

The department announced Tuesday that it had already ticketed 76 drivers. The majority were cited for speeding and for using their cell phones while driving, the WPD said.

The department reminds motorists to follow traffic laws: "Remember, you play a very important role in helping keep our kiddos safe as they make their way to and from school!"
