WATSONVILLE, CA β€” Parents of downtown Watsonville students who worry about pedestrian safety in the area have collected more than 500 signatures on a petition calling for the city and Caltrans to prioritize projects in the area, The Pajaronian reported.

Petitioners want to see projects on crosswalks, lighting and stop signs on Walker, Rodriguez, Second and Locust streets, the paper reported. They also want a lower speed limit on Walker Street, from Riverside Drive to Ford Street.

The petition will be presented to the council at the Feb. 25 meeting.
