Santa Cruz County To Launch 'Slow Streets' Program
Want traffic to slow down in your neighborhood to allow for safer walks and bike rides? Tell the county.
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Santa Cruz County is accepting applications for neighborhoods interested in participating in its new Slow Streets Program.
The program is meant to slow down traffic to allow pedestrians and cyclists to safely maintain social distancing from other neighbors out getting some exercise. Some found it difficult to maintain social distancing with more people exercising in their neighborhoods, the county said in a news release.
Cars will still be allowed through, though signs may suggest drivers slow down to take a detour when possible to ensure the safety of pedestrians and cyclists.
