SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Residents of Santa Cruz County and areas across the Bay Area woke Monday morning to find themselves still in the dark.

Thousands in the county have been affected by the outages. Many were without power when they went to bed Sunday, according to the Pacific Gas & Electric Co.'s outage map.

PG&E called on the public to conserve power Monday to prevent outages, according to a news release issued Monday morning. The utility's meteorologists expected temperatures to continue to climb through Wednesday and PG&E advised the public to be ready for power outages.
