Twilight Fans Doubled Up on Vampires and Werewolves in Watsonville

Green Valley Cinemas played the earlier movie before the midnight premiere of 'Breaking Dawn.'

Crazed movie fans showed up last night to in Watsonville for the midnight showing of β€œThe Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawnβ€”Part 1”. The only thing is these fans weren’t standing in line for one movie, but instead it was a double dose of vampires and werewolves.

Green Valley Cinema had a special treat and a warm-up movie, β€œEclipse”, the most recent Twilight Saga movie and was shown on two screens at 9 p.m. A Green Valley Cinema employee who chose to remain anonymous said there was approximately 800 people who showed up for the event. Children, women and men of all ages were all thereβ€”some even wore pajamas and brought their blankets along with them.

During an intermission break before the start of β€œBreaking Dawn” people stormed out into the lobby to refill on hot buttered popcorn, sweet candy and refreshing cold soft drinks. There were groups of people who talked with excitement in their voice and even some who whispered into their buddies ear about the new movie that’s about to come up.

Leslie Madrigal, 19, and Daniela Vasquez, 18, both from Watsonville were at Green Valley Cinema before the start of β€œEclipse” and stood in line for approximately 5 hours to secure seats at the debut showing.

β€œI’ve watched them all already, so I had to keep watching. You just get intrigued, you just keep going,” Madrigal said about the new film.

β€œI read the books so it just was interesting to come and see the movie,” Vasquez said. Her favorite book of the Twilight Saga is β€œBreaking Dawn.”

When the clock showed a quarter to midnight, the staff behind the snack bar was close to serving their last scoop of buttered popcorn. Family, friends and couples walked together in the hallway and to their seats to finally watch the main attraction.
