The Watsonville Academy is a free, ten-week program designed to help Watsonville residents learn about their city government.
Due to COVID-19, the 2020 Watsonville Academy Class will be held virtually starting Thursday, October 1, 2020. The City is working hard planning and developing an engaging and educational experience for our 2020 Watsonville Academy participants. The Watsonville Academy is a free, ten-week program designed to help Watsonville residents learn about their city government. The Watsonville Academy is held bi-weekly on Thursday evenings from 6 pm-7:30 pm. All applicants must be 21 years of age and must reside, or own a business in the City of Watsonville. In order to gain a good understanding of how your local government works your attendance is important. Participants may not miss more than 2 class sessions in order to receive a certificate of completion. Space is limited to 25 participants and offered on a first come, first serve basis.

Participants Will:
- Meet department heads and staff
- Learn how decisions are made, how funds are allocated and how departments operate
- Enjoy comprehensive overviews of city departments, programs and services
- Learn about the city’s future plans
- Participate in lively discussions
- Become an informed and engaged citizen
