Volunteer To Fill Sandbags In Watsonville

The filled sandbags will be made available to residents with limited mobility.

WATSONVILLE, CA — Volunteers are needed in Watsonville to help fill sandbags. Officials said he annual event, will be held rain or shine on Nov. 4. The filled sandbags will be made available to residents with limited mobility.

“We want to be prepared in case we have another wet winter and with the help of our residents, we will be,” said Water Operations Supervisor Steve Hernandez. “Many residents came out and supported our fill-a- sandbag event in 2015, which proved to be of great benefit to the community as we were ready with the filled sandbags when the wet weather hit us in 2016.”

The event, which is open to all community members, including high school students in need of volunteer hours, will be held between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the Home Depot located at 355 S. Green Valley Road.

The pre-filled bags and the sand and empty bags will be available at Fire Station #1, which is located at 115 Second Street and at Home Depot on Green Valley Road.
