Watsonville Engineers Host Egg Drop Contest
Contestants will design and build a package that is able to protect a raw egg from a 60-foot drop.

From The City of Watsonville:In celebration of National Engineer’s Week, Watsonville City Engineers will host their 16th annual Egg Drop Contest on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. The contest is open to all and is an egg-cellent opportunity to experience the fun and excitement of engineering. Registration begins at 3:00 p.m. in the alley between the Civic Center Building at 275 Main Street and the Post Office. The Library will host a reception onsite with cookies and juice after the contest.
Contestants will design and build a package that is able to protect a raw egg from a 60 foot drop off the 6th floor of the parking garage at the Civic Center Building. Past participants have included City staff, Watsonville High School students from MESA (Mathematics Engineering & Science Achievement) Club, children from the City’s Environmental Science workshop, and members of the public.
National Engineers Week or Eweek, is held the third week in February each year. It is a celebration of the positive impact engineers make in the world and sparks interest in the field by bring engineering to life for kids, educators, and parents.
