Given the shelter in place directive, the City will maintain essential services open (Police, Fire, water, sewer and garbage collection). Most city facilities are closed to the public, however the public may still contact certain city services remotely.
Today, Santa Cruz County Health Officer, along with six other public health officers from the Bay Area, issued a legal order asking residents to stay home, a unified step to slow the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and preserve critical health care capacity across the region, effective March 17 through April 7.

Given this shelter in place directive, the City will maintain essential services open: these include, Police, Fire, public utilities (water, sewer, garbage collection), building permits and building inspections.
Most City facilities are closed to the public. Members of the public may still contact City services remotely, as follows:
- City Administration offices will remain operational.
- Building and Planning Department, including permits, plan checks, code enforcement and plan review services. Please call (831) 768-3050 or email cdd@cityofwatsonville.org. Please call the inspection line at 831-768-3060 to schedule an inspection.
- Engineering and Transportation, including active construction projects, signal and street light issues . Please call (831) 768-3100.
- Public Works Customer Services Center - Call 768-3133

- Watsonville Main Library and Freedom Library are closed but eBooks, eAudiobooks, streaming video content, online magazines and newspapers, will remain accessible 24/7 at https://cityofwatsonville.org/...
- Parks, Recreation and Community Services recreation programs are closed until further notice. Classes, events, programs and facility rentals are cancelled or postponed.
- Parks and fields remain open at this time. If you visit a park, please practice good hygiene and social distancing.
- Watsonville Senior Center is closed.
- Public Drop Off located at 320 Harvest Drive will be open from 9 am - 12 pm Monday-Friday.
