Who Tried Robbing Little Caesars in Watsonville?

The employees did not know how to open safe, so the suspect fled empty-handed.

Police are searching for a person who attempted to rob a Little Caesars Pizza restaurant in Watsonville on Sunday, police said.

A motorist stopped a police officer at about 9:50 p.m. near Freedom Boulevard and Davis Avenue and told the officer that they thought the Little Caesars at 1504 Freedom Blvd. had just been robbed, police said. Officers responded to the restaurant just as employees were calling 911, according to police.

A police investigation revealed that a male wearing dark pants, a black hooded sweatshirt and a red bandana over his face entered the store, took out a handgun and jumped over the counter to get to the cash registers and safe.

The suspect allegedly demanded money from an employee, who said they did not know how to open the safe. The suspect attempted to open the safe without success and then fled on foot, police said. Police said he was last seen running east behind 10 Blanca Lane.

The suspect left the restaurant without taking anything, according to police. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
