The City of West Hollywood is dedicated to sustainability and to preserving our environment. One of the City of West Hollywood’s core values is Respect for the Environment and the City has a strong record of developing and instituting progressive and forward-thinking environmental policies. In 2011, the City released its Climate Action Plan, which is designed to address climate change and reduce the community’s greenhouse gas emissions at the local level.

Although climate change is a global problem, the City of West Hollywood recognizes that strategies to adapt to a changing climate must be enacted at the local level to address challenges such as heat waves, wildfire smoke, and drought. The City is currently updating its Climate Action Plan — an effort called “WeHo Climate Action” — to further champion the actions needed to meet the global and local challenges of climate change and reaffirm West Hollywood as a vibrant, sustainable, and resilient leadership city for current and future generations.

At-large outreach on WeHo Climate Action began in Fall 2020 with several opportunities for the community to offer feedback on strategies to reduce the City’s carbon footprint and adapt to long-term changes in climate. Community members participated in one-on-one interviews, received flyers on how to learn more about the project and provide feedback, participated in focus groups and listening sessions, completed a short survey, called in to the WeHo Climate Action Hotline to share input and provided comments on draft climate actions through our online portal.

The City is now sharing a draft version of the West Hollywood Climate Action and Adaptation Plan for public input through September 30, 2021. The draft plan can be found at: https://weho.konveio.com/weho-climate-action. The community can provide feedback in three ways:

  • Online by adding comments directly onto the draft plan.
  • Via the WeHo Climate Action Hotline at (323) 848-3155
  • Via a Virtual Community Workshop on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. RSVP by visiting the Zoom meeting link here.
