Crime In West Hollywood: What Went On September 11-17

Here's a breakdown of what crimes occurred and where in West Hollywood last week.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – The West Hollywood Sheriff's Station had a fairly calm week last week, with two full days of nothing significant to report. In total, there were six burglaries, two accounts of theft, and five robberies of various kinds throughout the week. Were any of the reported crimes in your neighborhood? September 11th
  • Nothing significant to report.
September 12th
  • Grand Theft
    • 8700 block Santa Monica Blvd, 3:30 p.m.
    • An unknown suspect removed a backpack containing a laptop computer, hard drive, passport, and glasses from the back seat. The car was being washed when the theft occurred.
    • Loss: $2,500
  • Armed Robbery
    • 8700 block Rangely Avenue, 12:45 p.m.
    • Two men were invited into the residence by the victim. A dispute over money ensued and one of the suspects produced a handgun. The victim ran from the residence and when he returned, he discovered cash and property belonging to him was missing.
    • Loss: $7300

September 13th

  • Grand Theft
    • 9200 block Sunset Blvd, 9:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
    • An unknown suspect removed a pearl necklace from the center console of the unlocked vehicle. The vehicle was with a valet service when the theft occurred.
    • Loss: $5,000
  • Other Burglary (Suspect Arrested)
    • 600 block N Doheny Drive, 1:54 a.m. - 2:04 a.m.
    • A man smashed a rear window to gain access and set off a burglary alarm. An employee responding to the alarm found the suspect inside the business. The suspect ran from the business and was arrested later that evening while committing a residential burglary on Rangely Avenue.
    • Loss: $140
  • Other Burglary
    • 600 block N Doheny Drive (Attempt), 2:00 a.m.
    • A man kicked the front metal door several times in an attempt to gain entry but was unsuccessful.
    • Loss: $100 (damaged door)
  • Residential Burglary (Suspect Arrested)
    • 9000 block Rangely Avenue, 2:00 am
    • A man unlocked the front yard gate to gain access to the porch area and attempted to force the front door open. A dog inside the residence started barking, which prompted the homeowner to call the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station. Deputies responded and arrested the suspect after a short foot pursuit.
  • Residential Burglary
    • 9000 block Rangely Avenue, 9:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
    • An unknown suspect cut a window screen and used an unlocked rear door to gain access. The victim was unsure if any items were taken.
    • Loss: $50 (screen door)
  • Residential Burglary
    • 9000 block Rangely Avenue, 9:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
    • An unknown suspect entered a storage locker in the car port but did not take anything. No sign of forced entry.
  • Strong Arm Robbery
    • 7600 block Santa Monica Blvd, 7:30 p.m.
    • After a verbal argument over parking, a woman attempted to take the victims cell phone from her hand but was unsuccessful. No loss.

  • Residential Burglary
    • 1000 block Stanley Avenue0, 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
    • An unknown suspect used the front door to gain access and removed jewelry from the bedroom. No sign of forced entry.
    • Loss: $1,200
  • Strong Arm Robbery (Suspect Arrested)
    • 8200 block Santa Monica Blvd, 9:09 a.m.
    • A man was walking WB on Santa Monica Blvd when he was approached from behind by two men. A struggle for the victim’s shoulder bag ensued and the victim was knocked to the ground. The victim released the bag and both suspects fled the area EB on Santa Monica. Both suspects were arrested later in the day.
    • Loss: $1,500

September 16th

  • Armed Robbery
    • 1100 block N Vista Avenue, 11:30 a.m.
    • A man and a woman were walking SB on Vista Avenue when they were approached by two men armed handguns. The suspects demanded property from the victims and they complied. The suspects fled the area SB on Vista Avenue. The victims waited 30 minutes to report the incident.
    • Loss: $1,700 (2 cell phones, 1 woman’s wallet)

September 17th

  • Strong Arm Robbery
    • 1000 block Hancock Avenue, 1:30 a.m.
    • Two men were walking SB on Hancock Avenue when a motorcycle carrying two people pulled up next to them on the street. The passenger of the motorcycle pulled a shoulder bag away from the victim and then rode away on the motorcycle.
    • Loss: $3,000 (cell phone, 2 wallets, 2 computers, ring, headphones)
