Hundreds Camp and Line Up in West Hollywood for the Apple Watch
With about 2 million watches pre-sold, crowds lined up at Maxfield in West Hollywood, one of five places worldwide the watch is available.

Undeterred by clouds and cooler temperatures, hundreds of people stood in line outside a West Hollywood boutique today to shell out hundreds of dollars for the newly released Apple Watch.
Although the company had originally planned to make the watch widely available today, the Apple instead offered it for immediate pickup at only five places around the world -- including Maxfield in West Hollywood. Some wanna-be Apple Watch owners began lining up as early as Thursday morning in hopes of becoming one of the first to get the device on their wrist.
“Just not having to pull out your phone all the time,” Ira Edelman told NBC4 while waiting for the store to open. “’Oh, I got a text message,’ so you just look down (at your wrist) and see.”

Treva Thomas told the station she knew exactly which variety of the watch she wanted.
“I was in the Apple store yesterday evening getting a fitting,” she said.

The watches have been on display at Apple stores, and online ordering has been available. But Maxfield is the only store in the United States where customers can walk in and buy one. The watches are also being sold at stores in Tokyo, London, Paris and Berlin.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Apple is believed to have already pre-sold 2 million of the watches, and 20 million are likely to be sold by the end of the year.
