📰 News we're reading

• Coyotes Leave Their West Hollywood Condo as Young Pups Begin to Roam (wehoonline.com) — Coyotes that had taken over the unfinished "Coyote Condo" at 939–949 N. Spaulding Avenue in West Hollywood have finally moved out after humane deterrents and cleanup ordered by the city. Neighbors are still spotting the animals roaming nearby as the young pups begin dispersing, highlighting how a long-stalled construction project turned into urban wildlife housing and why residents may keep seeing coyotes around town.

• Celebrity hotspot West Hollywood bar closing after 10 years (nypost.com) — Employees Only LA, a celebrity-favorite cocktail bar on Santa Monica Boulevard, will close permanently on Sept. 27 after nearly a decade as a West Hollywood nightlife staple. The shutdown adds to a string of recent WeHo bar and restaurant closures, with some locals blaming the city's minimum wage ordinance and rising business costs for putting extra pressure on neighborhood venues.

• The 'West Hollywood DMV' Isn't in West Hollywood. Steve Hilton Wants It Gone Anyway (wehoonline.com) — A DMV office commonly called the "West Hollywood DMV" actually sits just over the border in Los Angeles, but it became the backdrop for GOP gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton's plan to abolish the state DMV. His proposal would close field offices, shift services to local governments and private firms, and cap registration fees, raising big questions about funding roads and serving vulnerable residents.
