Police Shoot Armed Man in Hollywood

A man threatening people with a knife was shot by police officers in Hollywood late this afternoon and was hospitalized in critical condition, according to police.

Officers were called to Sycamore and Lexington avenues at 4:16 p.m., said Officer Jack Richter of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Office.

KCAL9 reported that the man was talking incoherently and threatening to commit suicide and brandishing a knife at people.

Police later located the knife in the street.
