West Hollywood City's Human Rights Speakers Series Presents A Free Virtual Panel Discussion About The Netflix Documentary ‘Disclosure’

The City of West Hollywood's Human Rights Speakers Series will host free panel discussion about the currently streaming Netflix documentary.

The City of West Hollywood’s Human Rights Speakers Series will host a free panel discussion about the currently streaming Netflix documentary Disclosure. The documentary is an unprecedented, eye-opening look at depictions of transgender people in film and television, revealing how “Hollywood” simultaneously reflects and manufactures society’s deepest anxieties about gender. In the documentary, leading transgender thinkers and creatives, including Laverne Cox, Lilly Wachowski, Yance Ford, MJ Rodriguez, Jamie Clayton, and Chaz Bono, share their reactions and resistance to some of Hollywood’s most beloved moments.

The free virtual panel discussion will stream on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 5 p.m. on YouTube. The event will feature: Director Sam Feder; Actress Laverne Cox; Vice President of Programs for TransCanWork Drian Juarez; and, Vice Chair of the City of West Hollywood Transgender Advisory Board Alexis Sanchez. The City of West Hollywood has declared a local emergency in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Individuals are advised, at this time, to stay at home as much as possible and limit close interactions to those in your household. Additionally, people 65 years old or older and all people of any age with underlying health conditions should remain at home whenever possible; people in these categories should only leave their residences to seek medical care, exercise, or obtain food or other necessities.

West Hollywood City Hall is currently closed to the public and has suspended all in-person transactions. Most public City buildings and facilities remain closed.
