The City of West Hollywood is responding to community needs and is providing regular updates during the coronavirus (COVID-19) emergency. The City is taking extensive steps to support the community during this unprecedented time. The City continues its COVID-19 free webinar series with an informational presentation for community members.

In addition to providing regular updates during the coronavirus (COVID-19) emergency via a variety of public outlets, the City of West Hollywood will present a free informational virtual community forum called Social Isolation and Loneliness in the Time of COVID-19: The Importance of Connection on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The forum will address the rapidly increasing public health crisis of social isolation and loneliness during the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to the extensive steps the city is taking to support the community during this unprecedented time.
Discussion topics will include:
- Signs and symptoms of social isolation and loneliness and the difference between them;
- Impact of COVID-19 on the prevalence of social isolation & loneliness;
- Demographics of community members experiencing social isolation and loneliness;
- The importance of social connections and how best to foster their development; and
- Programming and services provided by the City and its contracted and collaborative partners that create social connections.
Forum presenters and panelists are: Maureen Feldman, Director, Social Isolation Impact Project, MPTF (Motion Picture & Television Fund); Jamie Baker, Program Director, Being Alive Mental Health & Wellness; Mandi Carpenter, Manager, Arts, Wellness and Engagement, Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles; Marina Rhodes, Recreation Supervisor, Facilities & Recreation Services, City of West Hollywood; and Kiera Pollock, Program Director, Los Angeles LGBT Center.
