West Hollywood Crime Report: August 14-20

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – The West Hollywood Sheriff's Station had a busy week last week, with multiple burglaries, thefts, and robberies. There were 10 burglaries, four accounts of theft, and five robberies of various kinds throughout the week. Were any of the reported crimes in your neighborhood? August 14th
- Grand Theft
- 700 block Huntley Drive 12:04 p.m. - 1:50 p.m.
- An unknown suspect removed three suitcases containing clothing that were left unsecured in the parking garage.
- Loss $1350.
- Residential Burglary
- 7700 block Fountain Avenue 7:20 am - 3:30 pm.
- An unknown suspect removed the window screen of an open bedroom window to gain access and ransacked the interior. The suspect removed jewelry from a cabinet in the living room.
- Loss $35K.
- Vehicle Burglary
- 7100 block Santa Monica Blvd 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm.
- An unknown suspect forced the driver’s side window down to gain access and removed paperwork from the glove box.

August 15th

- Grand Theft
- 8400 block W Sunset Blvd between August 15 and August 20
- An unknown suspect removed diamond earrings from a woman’s purse.
- Loss $20K.
- Other Burglary
- 500 block Robertson Blvd 5:58 am
- An unknown suspect used a crow bar and sledge hammer on the front door to gain entry and removed jewelry and two jewelry display cases.
- Loss $4K
- Residential Burglary (Attempt)
- 7600 block Lexington Avenue 4:30 am
- An unknown suspect used force and attempted to break the deadbolt lock on the front door but was unsuccessful.
- Loss $50 (lock)
- Strong Arm Robbery
- 9000 block Beverly Blvd 8:45 pm
- A man removed lotion, razors, and miscellaneous toiletries from the display area and left the store without payment. When confronted by an employee, the suspect punched the victim in the face and fled the area.

August 16th
- Other Burglary
- 1000 block N Sierra Bonita Avenue 9:00 am - 7:00 am
- An unknown suspect cut the lock to a storage unit in the unsecured parking garage and removed a box of winter clothing.

- 7300 block Santa Monica Blvd0 12:18 pm - 12:21 pm
- An unknown suspect removed a laptop computer from the front desk after an employee left the business unattended for a few minutes.
- Loss $2K
August 18th
- Strong Arm Robbery
- Melrose Avenue/Robertson Blvd 2:40 pm
- A man was walking NB on Robertson Blvd when a man approached him and asked if he could use the victim’s phone to call home. Two other men approached the victim from behind and shoved him to the ground. A short struggle ensued and the victim’s phone was pulled from his hand. All three suspects ran to a vehicle that was parked nearby and fled the area.

August 19th
- Grand Theft (Suspect Arrested)
- Hacienda Place / Holloway Drive 10:15 pm
- A man refused to return a ring he had taken from his friend. The suspect was arrested.

- Residential Burglary (Attempt)
- 1000 block N Genesee Avenue between August 19 and August 20
- An unknown suspect tampered with the front door knob in an attempt to gain entry but was unsuccessful.
- Loss $50 (doorknob lock)
- Strong Arm Robbery
- 8800 block Melrose Avenue 1:08 pm
- A man and three women removed purses from the display area and ran to the front door. A security guard tried to stop them from leaving and was pushed to the ground. An employee of the store was also pepper sprayed in the face by one of the female suspects. All four suspects ran from the store and fled the area in a vehicle that was parked nearby.

- 9000 block Norma Place 2:00 am - 6:00 am
- An unknown suspect removed a laptop computer from the trunk. No sign of forced entry.
- Loss $1K
- Vehicle Burglary
- 1000 block Hilldale Avenue0 between August 19 and August 21
- An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window but nothing was taken.
- Loss $300
August 20th
- Armed Robbery
- 8500 block Melrose Avenue 12:00 pm
- A male employee was at his vehicle to retrieve change for a customer when he was approached from behind by two men. One of the suspects held a knife to the victim while the other suspect took a tablet computer, cell phone, and cash from the vehicle. Both suspects fled the area on foot.

- Armed Robbery (Suspect Arrested)
- 1100 block La Brea Avenue 12:42 pm.
- A male transient removed several items from store shelfs and left the store without payment. When confronted outside of the store by security, the suspect began to swing his arms and struck the victim in the chest. The suspect then picked up a metal sign that was nearby and began to swing it at the victim. The suspect walked back into the store and began knocking bottles of alcohol from the shelfs. The suspect pulled a fire extinguisher from the wall and began swinging the extinguisher at the victim. A second security guard arrived and helped detain the suspect until deputies arrived. Deputies responded and arrested the suspect.

- Vehicle Burglary
- 8700 block Santa Monica Blvd 10:30 pm - 1:30 am
- An unknown suspect smashed the rear window and removed a backpack containing clothing from the trunk. The backpack was searched and left on the ground near the vehicle.
- Loss $700 (window)
- Vehicle Burglary
- 1000 block Orange Grove Avenue 11:00 pm.
- A man was inside his residence when he noticed three men standing near his vehicle and one man sitting inside of the vehicle with the doors open. The man confronted the suspects, causing them to run away. Responding deputies located and arrested one of the suspects. No sign of forced entry.
