West Hollywood Live Election Results: City Council, Measures B, Y
There are three City Council seats up for grabs in West Hollywood. Residents also voted on Measure B and Measure Y.
WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – West Hollywood residents voted to elect three members to City Council and cast their votes on Measure Y and Measure B Tuesday. The polls closed at 8 p.m. – three of nine precincts are reporting as of 11 p.m.
So far, here are the tallies for the West Hollywood City Council candidates:
- Lyndsey P. Horvath (West Hollywood Councilmember): 24.53 percent of the vote with 2,012 total votes
- Lauren Meister (West Hollywood Councilmember): 22.79 percent of the vote with 1,869 total votes
- John D'Amico (West Hollywood Councilmember): 16.36 percent of the vote with 1,342 total votes
- Sepi Shyne (Attorney): 11.61 percent of the vote with 952 total votes
- James Duke Mason (Public Relations Specialist): 7.47 percent of the vote with 613 total votes
- Marquita Thomas (Non-Profit Executive Director): 6.3 percent of the vote with 517 total votes
- Brendan Hood (Marketing Analytics Director): 3.15 percent of the vote with 258 total votes
- Tom Demille (Artist): 2.61 percent of the vote with 214 total votes
- Shawn Davis Mooney (Senior Living Executive): 2.19 percent of the vote with 180 total votes
- Jack Cline (Registered Nurse): 1.79 percent of the vote with 147 total votes
- Eric Jon Schmidt (Retired Fitness Trainer): 1.19 percent of the vote with 98 total votes
As of 11 p.m., 63.6 percent voted "Yes" and 36.4 percent voted "No" on Measure B. For Measure Y: 77.6 percent voted "Yes" and 22.4 percent voted "No."

Measure Y is the "Tax on the Sale of Adult-Use Cannabis." According to the sample ballot, a "Yes" vote on Measure Y means:

"Shall an ordinance be adopted establishing a Cannabis Business Tax on gross receipts from the sale of adult-use cannabis and adult-use cannabis products, at a rate of 7.5%, estimated to raise $5,500,000 annually to be used locally to fund general municipal services in West Hollywood such as public safety, street repair, homeless services, pedestrian/bike safety, and parks, until ended by voters and subject to annual public review of spending and independent financial audits."
Measure B is a "Referendum of Resolution 18-5104 (The Arts Club)." According to the sample ballot, a "Yes" vote on Measure Y means:
"Shall Resolution Plan Amendment thereby allowing No. 18-5104 be adopted, approving a General
for the Arts Club Project at 8920 Sunset Boulevard, the project to proceed."
Vote-by-mail ballots will still be counted if they're received by the county by March 8.
