West Hollywood Man Charged With Impersonating Registered Nurse

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – A West Hollywood man has been charged with 11 criminal counts for allegedly impersonating a registered nurse, state officials announced Wednesday. Jeremy Daniel Griffin, 31, is not licensed as a registered nurse in California and presented falsified documents in a registered nurse's name to secure a job with a travel nursing company, authorities allege.

Griffin is scheduled to be arraigned June 4 in a Long Beach courtroom on charges including grand theft, identity theft, false personation, commercial burglary and unlawfully using the title registered nurse.

Griffin pleaded no contest in February in a similar case in Santa Clara County in which authorities said he used a registered nurse's name to try to get a job at a hospital in Gilroy, state officials said. He is awaiting sentencing next month on that case.

Griffin was previously licensed as a vocational nurse, but his license was revoked in 2014 after he was convicted of burglary and receiving stolen property, according to state officials.

"Fraudulently posing as a medical professional is extremely dangerous and invasive to patients seeking necessary medical care," California Attorney General Xavier Becerra said in a statement announcing the latest charges. "Patients must trust that they can seek health care without being exposed to someone who may cause them harm."
